The problem it solves
Most AI image tools treat every request as a fresh roll of the dice. You get a picture that's almost right, ask for one small change, and get a completely different picture back.
ImageCreator works like a conversation. You describe what you want, then keep talking to it. Say make the sky darker or remove the fence and it edits the picture you already have. If the edit misses, press Undo and you're right back where you were.
How it works
- Set up your key once. Create a free OpenRouter account, add a little credit, make an API key and paste it in. The setup screen walks you through it and tests the key.
- Describe a picture. For example, a red barn at sunset, wooden fence in front. Pick a model and an aspect ratio if you like.
- Change it by talking. Type what you want different. Attach your own photo with the paperclip if you'd rather start from that.
- Undo, redo, save. Step back and forth through your versions. Click a picture to see it full size.
Why you bring your own key
Making AI images costs real money every time. Instead of charging you a subscription with a markup on top, ImageCreator talks straight to OpenRouter from your browser, and you pay OpenRouter directly at their price. No per-image fee to me.
The setup screen puts it plainly: a few dollars generates dozens of pictures. A cost tag under the chat box shows what you've actually spent, taken from OpenRouter's own numbers, and Settings shows the total for your device.
Undo and redo never cost anything. They pull up a picture you already have instead of asking for a new one.
Your pictures and your key stay with you
Your OpenRouter key is stored only in this browser and is only ever sent to OpenRouter. Your conversations and pictures are saved in your browser too, not on my server.
One honest warning: phones can clear browser storage when they run low on space. Use Export all in Settings to keep a copy of anything you care about, and Import to bring it back.
Why I ask for your email
Your prompts and pictures go from your browser to OpenRouter, using your key, to make the images. None of that passes through me, and your email isn't tied to any of it. The email is how I keep these tools free and know real people are using them.
I might send you a note now and then about other free tools I build. I will never sell or give your email to anyone else.
Questions people ask
Is it really free?
The app is free. Making images costs a little each time, which you pay to OpenRouter directly from your own account. I don't add anything on top.
What's OpenRouter?
A service that gives you one account and one key for many AI models, including image models. You sign up, add credit, and pay as you go.
Which AI models can I use?
The model list is pulled live from OpenRouter every time the app starts, and a badge shows how many image models are available. Pick one from the dropdown.
Can I start from my own photo?
Yes. Tap the paperclip to attach a PNG, JPEG, GIF or WebP as a reference, then describe what you want changed.
Does it work on my phone?
It's built to work the same on a phone, tablet or PC, and you can add it to your home screen.
Where are my images saved?
In your browser on that device. Export all in Settings saves a backup file you can import later or on another device.
